Get connected with us

Would you like to connect a biogas plant to our network? Or do you produce hydrogen that you would like to feed into the network? Are you the operator of an industrial facility, power plant or commercial enterprise that would like to procure gas from us? Then please feel free to contact us.

Biomethane

Would you like to connect a biogas plant to our network? Then you are welcome to do so. The provisions of Section 33 of the Gas Network Access regulation apply to a grid connection. Operators of biogas installations enjoy the following benefits: NEL Gastransport bears 75 percent of the costs of the connection. We also bring the biogas up to natural gas quality. You do not incur any costs for that.

Interested? Please use the data sheet for the grid connection request for biogas feed-in, which also includes information on the location, quantity, availability, and gas quality.

All the information about trading with biogas can be found on the Trading Hub Europe website.

Feeding hydrogen into our natural gas network

Similar to biogas feed-in, we allow – under certain conditions – hydrogen to be fed into our natural gas network in accordance with the Gas Network Access Ordinance.

According to Section 3 (10f) of the EnWG, hydrogen is then regarded as green hydrogen if it is produced using renewable energy sources. Feeding in green hydrogen is to be carried out according to the specifications of Section 33 of the Gas Network Access Ordinance.

Your network connection request will be examined to see whether we can meet the quality requirements with the blending of the DVGW worksheets G 260 (from 2021) in the 5th gas family of at least group D. The limit values for hydrogen components and accompanying substances are defined in Table 5 of G 260.

For a network connection request, please use our Form to specify the biogas plant.

You can find a brief overview in our information leaflet Connection requirements for biogas plants.

The costs for checking the network connection are €20,000 (plus the respective statutory VAT).

Industry and power plants

Various end consumers are connected to the NEL pipeline network – for example, industrial plants, commercial enterprises or power plants. Before the usage of the gas pipeline, a capacity booking must take place. Network user – this can be the end consumer itself or a supplier commissioned by the end consumer –
