If you visit our website for informational purposes (i.e., without registering or contacting us), the following information is automatically transmitted from your browser to our server:

3. For what purposes do we process your data?

We use the IP address and the other data automatically transmitted from your browser to our server as described in Section 2.1 to

• provide you with the requested content on our website,
• ensure the security and functionality of our website, and
•  detect, defend against, and investigate attacks on our systems.

We store your computer’s IP address after truncating it by the last octet—that is, in anonymized form—to analyze the usage behavior of visitors to our website and thereby improve our website. The aforementioned truncation of the IP address for this purpose takes place immediately after collection. We therefore do not collect any personal information about your usage behavior on our website.

If you contact us via a contact form on our website or by email, we use the personal data specified in Section 2.2 to respond to and handle your inquiry.

4. On what legal basis is your personal data processed?

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data described in Section 2.1 is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the purposes listed in Section 2.1, in particular the secure and functional provision of our website.

The processing of your personal data in connection with contacting us as described in Section 2.2 is based on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest consists of processing and responding to your inquiry, as well as the associated communication.

5. To whom do we disclose your personal data?

To provide the technical infrastructure for the website, we use a hosting service provider that. 

In addition, when you use certain features of our website, data may be transmitted to the services described below. Your personal data will not be disclosed beyond this scope unless there is a legal basis for doing so or you have given your consent.

Matomo 

Our website uses Matomo as a web analytics service. Matomo operates without the use of cookies. Your IP address is stored in an anonymized form for the purpose of analyzing visitor traffic. This means it is impossible to link the data to you personally. The IP address transmitted by Matomo to our provider is not combined with any other data.

MapTiler

We use the MapTiler map service provided by MapTiler AG, Höfnerstrasse 98, 8810 Horgen, Switzerland, to display interactive maps on our website. When you visit a page with an embedded map, the technical information required to display the map is transmitted directly to MapTiler’s servers. MapTiler does not use cookies for tracking purposes.

Only the technical data available to the browser is transmitted in order to display the maps correctly. This includes:

• IP address
• Name of the file accessed
• Date and time of access
• Amount of data transferred
• Confirmation of successful access
• Operating system used
• Browser type and browser version

Friendly Captcha

To protect our website against spam and abusive automated access, we use the Friendly Captcha service provided by Friendly Captcha GmbH, Am Anger 3-5, 82237 Wörthsee, Germany. This service processes technical connection data to distinguish between human users and automated programs.

In particular, the following data may be processed:

• IP address (or anonymized or hashed IP address)
• Browser and device data
• Date and time of access
• Operating system information
• Technical connection and usage data required for bot detection

This data is processed exclusively to protect our website from malicious automated access and to ensure IT security.

6. How long do we retain your personal data?

In accordance with Article 5(1)(e) of the GDPR, your personal data will be retained only as long as necessary to achieve the purposes specified in Section 3 or as required by statutory retention obligations. Once the respective purpose of processing no longer applies and any retention periods have expired, the data will be deleted.

7. Does our website use cookies?

Our website uses only technically necessary cookies. These are required to provide the website’s basic functions and to ensure its secure and proper operation.

We currently only use cookies on our careers page in order to optimize our offer within the scope of our job vacancies for our applicants and visitors to our website. When you access our careers page, you will be (have been) informed about the use of cookies within the cookie banner. Additional information can be found in the Cookies section, where you can also revoke your consent to the use of cookies at any time.
