Ulrich Benterbusch is new Managing Director of GASCADE an NEL Gastransport

Dual leadership remains: von dem Bussche and Benterbusch leading the companies together

Kassel. Handover at the top at the start of the year at GASCADE Gastransport GmbH and NEL Gastransport GmbH: Ulrich Benterbusch has been appointed new Managing Director by the Supervisory Board. Ulrich Benterbusch succeeds Igor Uspenskiy, who jointly ran business operations with Christoph von dem Bussche for more than six years.

The management baton has been passed on to Ulrich Benterbusch, who is well connected in German and European energy policy: After holding positions at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the German Federal Chancellery, the International Energy Agency in Paris, and as Managing Director of the German Energy Agency (dena) , the 61-year-old was previously deputy department head at the BMWK, which recommended him for the position as new shareholder of GASCADE. At BMWK, the father of two was previously responsible for the topics of hydrogen, gas and energy efficiency. A special focus of his work last year was on setting up the LNG infrastructure in Germany.

Commenting on his new role, Benterbusch said: “I look forward to the challenges that my new job will bring. Helping to shape the transformation of the gas market from within the company itself is an exciting task. A focus of that is certain to be on setting up the hydrogen infrastructure.”
